This book is marketed as a 3rd grade textbook series, in reality this book is nothing more than a picture book for preschoolers with facts about the milky way scattered in. It has some beautiful photographs but this is much too simple for a third grader and it's extremely short, like all of the other books by Baby Professor. If this were a 3rd grade book I would expect more explanation of different terms, a glossary, and considering this claims to be a textbook series, where are the discussion questions? This book doesn't come close to third grade level education and the amount of information provided wouldn't even qualify it as a first grade textbook. This is nothing more than a simple picture book.I do not recommend this book and find the classification of 3rd grade textbook series to be extremely misleading.

This book “About The Milky Way (Our Home Galaxy)”, is part of the series collection for 3rd Grade Science Textbook Series published by Speedy Publishing. This is a picture book with short references for each photograph or picture based on the idea that a child will easy remember the concept by just looking into the picture related to that concept taught.
An excellent publication addressed to small children that can be used for teaching purposes and as a source to share a good lecture with your kids. This is a book about Science and Astronomy through enriching the knowledge for any reader, then it contains amazing full color, high detailed, photographs/pictures about the Milky Way, one of the many galaxies that lay in the universe our home galaxy in the universe. It began forming around 12 billion years ago and is part of cluster of around 3,000 galaxies called the Local Group. At least 100 billion stars are part of the Milky Way and on its center there is a black hole that sucks up anything that crosses it. The closest galaxy to the Milky Way is Andromeda, which is around 2.6 million light years away from us.
As this book has beautiful, full colored, high detailed, photographs/pictures you may want to share with your kids and/or students as they can serve as point for further discussions or a way to develop language skill by promoting the children to express themselves about what they see and understand by looking at the photograph or picture.

I read this with my two young children who really enjoyed the pictures throughout the book. This is a book about Science and Astronomy with bright colored photos of the galaxies.
This book can be read on a computer, on a kindle or purchased in paperback which I think is terrific to have so many different options available. Truly a great book for young kids just learning about how much more is out there than life as we know it day to day and good for older kids that are starting to learn about planets in school.
